1 John 5:19-21

19 [And] we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, [even] in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Hello Kitty (full name Kitty White) is a fictional character produced by the Japanese company Sanrio, first designed by Yuko Shimizu. She is portrayed as a female white Japanese bobtail cat with a red bow.

This image has almost become a religion in itself. The cat appears on everything from airplanes to machine guns, clothing even bible covers… It has become a phenomenon worldwide with even celebrities seen supporting the “brand”. I personally have not seen a “brand” grow at such speed and amass billions over the years! Some people say they just cannot stop buying Hallo Kitty stuff, which sounds like an addiction…

Yuko Shimizu creator of the doll, got the name Kitty from Lewis Carroll's “Through the Looking-Glass”, where in a scene early in the book Alice plays with a cat she calls Kitty. Sanrio is the Japanese company that produces the doll amongst other items. Sanrio’s motto is "social communication" and Tsuji (founder of Sanrio) wanted the brand name of the cat to reflect that. He first considered "Hi Kitty" before settling on "Hello" for the greeting. Spokespeople for Sanrio have said that Hello Kitty does not have a mouth because they want people to "project their feelings onto the character" and "be happy or sad together with Hello Kitty. Another explanation Sanrio has given for her lack of a mouth is that she "speaks from the heart”.

The “real story” goes that there was once was this mom with a daughter who had mouth cancer. The mom made a pact with the underworld telling them if you spare my daughter her life I will make a popular company for you. He did his part and she did hers. KITTY actually means demon in Chinese which makes sense because the woman was Chinese. So, the cute and innocent millionaire Hello Kitty is actually “hello devil”.

Allowing your child to accumulate a host of Hello Kitty dolls is similar to the time when the Hebrews, after having just been led out of their bondage in Egypt by Moses, decided to mimic their former Egyptian slave masters and worship a calf made from purest gold! As it says in Deuteronomy 9:16: “And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God, and had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.”

First we see that the cult to cats began in ancient Egypt. Cats were considered sacred animals, not pets. They held a high, honoured position in many households, and since many saw them demi-gods, they were more important even than humans. Anyone caught harming or killing a cat, even by accident, was punished by death, for cats guarded the royal granaries keeping them relatively free from vermin which threatened the food supplies. When a cat died, there would be mourning and the cat was mummified like a person and placed in a cat cemetery.

It also is no mere coincidence that Hello Kitty herself resembles the cat-headed sekhmet, the Egyptian sun goddess of destruction! There are also strong resemblances between Hello kitty and the Lower Nile love goddess bast (find reference in the scripture in Ezekiel 30:17. Pibeseth is the city also called Bubastis, which means the city of Bast or Bastet, goddess of joy and protector of the cat). Often cats and cat idols were entombed in the burial chambers of the Pharaohs for the cat had a deep mystical significance to these pagan slave drivers.

Permitting your child to lie in a bed covered in Hello Kitty dolls, you are allowing them to lie in a mock Egyptian burial chamber! This seemingly harmless fascination with these dolls can lead your child down the path of the occult. The Hello Kitty, the ChocoCat, The Badtz Maru are just sugar coated stand-ins for Sekhmet, the Anubis and Ra. These are the same gods that The Lord cast down into the sulfur pit of hell and made into demons! Their power, which allowed Ramses to turn his staff into a serpent, cannot be underestimated today.

During the dark ages –and, indeed, until the past two centuries- the period of respect for the cat gave way to widespread hatred and persecution, possibly because the cat was associated with all sorts of pagan practices and therefore with witchcraft. Demonologists, regarded the cat as a favorite witch´s familiar (supernatural spirit in animal form), and cats often were solemnly put on trial beside their masters or mistresses. The Mayan legends also referred to the devil appearing always in the form of a cat “Nahual Se”. It is believed that the cat is an animal which is susceptible to demonic forces.

The relationship of the ancient cult of cats and this Hello Kitty character, as a matter of fact bast is still honoured by some pagan cults, and that is not surprising because the Greeks called her Artemis and the Romans “Diana”.  Bast is represented by a human body of a woman with a cat´s head… that´s Hello kitty description also!! The difference is that it has cartoonish non idol appearance, but as Demetrius the silversmith of Artemis, the “Silversmiths” of Hello Kitty, the company named SANRIO (which in Chinese means “Lord of the Mount”), brings in no little business for her craftsmen, claiming net earnings of 114 billion yen for the fiscal year 2001. In an article of the Saint Louis Post Dispatch a woman writes:  "I've spent two decades hiding a secret — and I'm not going to do it anymore. No more shame or embarrassment. No more lies, no more hiding. I am 31 years old... and I love Hello kitty. A lot......She speaks of goodness. She is peace, love and kindness. If there is indeed a power greater than myself, it is Hello Kitty."

Why is this character so popular as to entice a 31 year old woman to express such statement of adherence, to a fetish cartoon character, when that precise statement is to be said of Jesus and His work in our life? Again there is a spirit of idolatry and paganism behind this character, and how many Christians have fallen into it bringing into their homes the ancient cult of Bastet goddess of joy and play, Shouldn't Jesus Christ and Him alone be our only Joy!!!??

Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”

As Christians living in this world that is full of temptation, it is very easy to fall prey to the enemies attempts to deceive the world by using cute & cuddly products and brands. Are we and our children falling by the sword and being sent into captivity by our own lack of knowledge???

It is the love of this world that results in us giving our children these toys because “everybody has them” or “because they´re the hottest thing around”. I believe parents should be warned of what they are exposing their children to, with these … so called toys and paraphernalia. Our loving intentions can do more harm than good to ourselves and our children. Read the word of God and see what happens to those who disobeyed the Lords commands. We must thank and praise God for his sacrifice that allows us today to renounce our bad habits and bad decisions and repent. We serve a forgiving God who is slow to anger and abounding in love. If you have these toys or any Hello Kitty paraphernalia, do you still want to keep them around in your home????
